Near-Earth Asteroids on Monday and Friday

from: http://www.spaceweather.com/

Potentially Hazardous Asteroids (PHAs) are space rocks larger than approximately 100m that can come closer to Earth than 0.05 AU. None of the known PHAs is on a collision course with our planet, although astronomers are finding new ones all the time.
On June 8, 2008 there were 956 potentially hazardous asteroids.
Two June, 2008 Earth-asteroid encounters:

Asteroid 2008 LB, June 9, 3.3 LD

Asteroid 2008 LG2, June 13, 9.2 LD

Notes: LD means "Lunar Distance." 1 LD = 384,401 km, the distance between Earth and the Moon. 1 LD also equals 0.00256 AU.

In the last movie I watched where an asteroid was heading to the Earth, the President was black and the VP was a woman....just thought it was worth mentioning....

Since the VP will NOT be a woman
I guess I won't spend too much
time worrying about an asteroid
hitting . You must have too much
free time since you keep finding
these weird articles that you are
posting. Wait until you read about
the " wee people" in the newest
FATE magazine. I'm going out and
starting to check my lawn this
afternoon. Maybe thats what has
been eating the tops off of my
poppy plants? I was going to buy
some " rabbit be gone" but maybe
I better check and see if they have
" wee people be gone". When did the
Rutherford rebel check in? Didn't
see her post. till later -
